Historical context: "Tener duro!" – "Hold on!" – shows a muscular archer drawing his bow, its arrow tipped with a bold red "V". Painted in 1944 by the Italian illustrator Gino Boccasile (1901–1952), it belongs to the Axis "V for Victory" counter-campaign, which tried to reclaim the V sign that the Allies had made famous. Its striking composition and single splash of red make it one of the most graphic Italian posters of the war.
