Historical context: Lassen Peak smokes in eruption in this poster, a nod to the volcano's 1914–1917 eruptions. Made around 1938 by the WPA's Federal Art Project for the National Park Service, it announced the ranger naturalist headquarters at Loomis Memorial, Manzanita Lake, with lectures, hikes, motor caravans and campfire programmes. The original is held in the Library of Congress.
