Historical context: "Anh Phú Tùng Quân" – "Brother Phú joins the army" – shows a smiling young soldier surrounded by cheering women in áo dài. Distributed in Vietnam in the early 1950s, it encouraged young men to enlist in the new Vietnamese National Army, and its bright colours and hand-lettered title make it a classic of mid-century Asian poster design.
